Image and culture? I believe we are making progress in supporting healthy humans in this new world, but we&#8217;re not there, yet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Inom cykling har vi en besatthet av kraft till viktf\u00f6rh\u00e5llande. High power output + low mass = fast cyclist (up a hill). We&#8217;re led to believe that lighter is better, but there is a point where you become too light, from my personal experience.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Alla mina cykelv\u00e4nner komplimenterade min smala ram. Non-cyclists told me to, &#8221;go and eat a burger&#8221; &#8211; but their opinion was irrelevant to me. &#8217;Normal people&#8217; don&#8217;t understand what it takes to be a fast road cyclist (neither did I, frankly).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">2013 var jag ganska skrymmande och muskul\u00f6s (90 kg @ 178 cm). I have always loved cycling and grew up in a family of old-school roadies, but work had overtaken my life &#8211; 12hr shifts, overeating, poor sleep. I chose to blow off steam by lifting weights because it was easier than cycling. My 10km commute to work was enough to label myself a cyclist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">D\u00e5 var jag p\u00e5 Sky News, d\u00e4r jag bevakade OS i London 2012 och Storbritanniens f\u00f6rsta Tour de France-m\u00e4stare. My quest to become lighter became unsustainable. My relationship with food began to become negative. I would ride on an empty stomach and count the calories burnt to measure success, rather than power, distance or speed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Mina v\u00e4nner slutade bjuda mig p\u00e5 \u00e5kattraktioner. Perhaps I was poor company? Maybe I was an arsehole on purpose, so they would stop asking me? This way, I could ride alone and hide from the fact I was becoming weaker and slower.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Varum\u00e4rken slutade bjuda in mig till evenemang. I felt excluded, which fuelled my determination to become skinnier and prove that I had what it takes to be a professional &#8211; to have a BMI that would make Chris Froome look like the Michelin Man. I&#8217;ll show you all.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Sedan fick jag ett v\u00e4ckarklocka fr\u00e5n Darren Lee (cykelcoach och grundare av CicloZone). Darren kom till Sky i januari 2020 f\u00f6r att s\u00e4tta upp spinklassstudion i v\u00e5rt gym. Darren came to Sky in January 2020 to set up the spin class studio in our gym. After a brief warm-up, he encouraged me to do an <a href=\"https:\/\/ciclozone-marketing.on-forge.com\/zone-in\/article\/in-app-ftp-test-and-ride-data-is-live\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">FTP Test<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Senast jag utf\u00f6rde ett 20 min FTP-test var 2017: 320watt @63kg (5,07w\/pk) \u2013 vilket n\u00e4stan kan ge dig ett kontrakt hos ett prokontinentalt cykellag.<span class=\"s1\">The last time I performed a 20min FTP Test was in 2017: 320watts @63kg (5.07w\/pk) &#8211; which could almost get you a contract at a pro-continental cycling team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">N\u00e4r jag avslutade testet var jag i chock: 239watt 61,4kg (3,89w\/pk).<span class=\"s1\">When I finished the test, I was in shock: 239watts 61.4kg (3.89w\/pk).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">&#8221;Hur i hela friden har jag g\u00e5tt fr\u00e5n 320 watt till 239 watt?&#8221;<span class=\"s1\">&#8221;How on earth have I gone from 320watts to 239watts?&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Under de d\u00e4r pl\u00e5gsamma turerna p\u00e5 tom mage hade jag br\u00e4nt bort alla mina muskler, energi och kraft.<span class=\"s1\">During those torturous empty stomach rides, I had burned away all of my muscle, energy and power.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">Darren gav mig det v\u00e4ckarklocka jag beh\u00f6vde. Jag var tvungen att g\u00f6ra n\u00e5gra \u00e4ndringar och omv\u00e4rdera.
