El sol, las carreteras secas y las impresionantes monta\u00f1as hicieron que mi amor por el ciclismo alcanzara su punto m\u00e1s alto, pero me pas\u00f3 algo mucho m\u00e1s importante adem\u00e1s de un buen bronceado&#8230; mi dieta cambi\u00f3 por completo. De una dieta blanca del norte de Europa, cargada de carbohidratos, ahora estuve expuesto a la dieta mediterr\u00e1nea de verduras y frutas frescas, con ensaladas incre\u00edbles, cargadas de aceite de oliva y pescado directamente del barco. Muy lejos de mi cena de pescado y patatas fritas en la regi\u00f3n central del Reino Unido. Las almendras saladas ahora reemplazaron a mis patatas fritas como bocadillos y, de repente, el t\u00e9 ingl\u00e9s con dos az\u00facares se convirti\u00f3 en un espresso doble y mi pinta de Guinness ahora era un buen vino tinto de Rioja. Era tan ingenuo con respecto a la importancia de la nutrici\u00f3n que fue necesario este cambio total en la dieta para hacerme plenamente consciente de c\u00f3mo los alimentos que comemos realmente dictan los resultados de nuestro entrenamiento y rendimiento. Mi mudanza a Espa\u00f1a cambi\u00f3 para siempre mi actitud hacia los alimentos y la comprensi\u00f3n de la nutrici\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Los resultados de mi cambio de dieta fueron inmediatamente evidentes. Llegu\u00e9 a Espa\u00f1a como un voluminoso animal ciclista Criterium de 83 kg y en unas pocas semanas mi cuerpo hab\u00eda perdido 10 kg y despu\u00e9s de explotar los llanos con cargas de potencia explosiva instant\u00e1nea, ahora estaba asaltando las subidas a medida que mi peso hab\u00eda desaparecido, pero mi perfil de potencia cambi\u00f3 a un umbral de resistencia muy por encima de cualquier cosa que hubiera so\u00f1ado. Pens\u00e1ndolo bien, ahora s\u00e9 que mi adaptaci\u00f3n f\u00edsica y de rendimiento se debi\u00f3 sin duda al cambio en la dieta y al analizar lo que estaba comiendo, ahora veo que, sin saberlo, hab\u00eda adoptado un estilo de alimentaci\u00f3n que es bastante controvertido en los tiempos modernos&#8230; Me hab\u00eda convertido en &#8216;Keto&#8217;.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Los ciclistas normalmente est\u00e1n acostumbrados a cargar carbohidratos y alimentarse con bocadillos y bebidas azucaradas para maximizar el rendimiento. Keto es casi todo lo contrario. La mayor\u00eda de las personas que siguen una dieta cetog\u00e9nica se mantienen por debajo de los 50 g de carbohidratos al d\u00eda, lo que es muy diferente de los 300-500 g habituales de carbohidratos que consumir\u00eda un t\u00edpico entusiasta del ciclismo con una dieta alta en carbohidratos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Cuando reduce los carbohidratos por debajo de 50 g por d\u00eda, su cuerpo pasa de quemar carbohidratos a quemar principalmente grasas para obtener energ\u00eda. Los estudios muestran que los atletas adaptados a las grasas pueden quemar casi 3 veces m\u00e1s grasa por minuto que los atletas ricos en carbohidratos. Esto podr\u00eda ayudarte a evitar la temida pesadilla de los ciclistas de simplemente quedarse sin gluc\u00f3geno y sufrir el odiado golpe&#8230; la peor sensaci\u00f3n que cualquier ciclista puede experimentar en una bicicleta. Fue esta adici\u00f3n a mi perfil de potencia lo que me permiti\u00f3 competir en esas carreras por etapas de hasta 180 km y no experimentar el temido golpe.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Hay otra gran ventaja de no depender tanto de la comida que realmente te llevas a la boca como combustible para pedalear. Ya sabes lo que pasa cuando has estado montando durante horas, est\u00e1s cansado e intentas tragar comida. Tu est\u00f3mago no coopera, tu digesti\u00f3n es lenta y todo ese az\u00facar comienza a fermentar. Obtiene gases, calambres y otros efectos secundarios desagradables que pueden poner fin al viaje.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">El hecho de que puedas utilizar tu propia grasa corporal como combustible en Keto significa que en esos largos recorridos de resistencia no tienes que consumir tanto combustible externo en forma de barras energ\u00e9ticas, geles, etc. Esto podr\u00eda ahorrarte muchos problemas digestivos.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\">Tambi\u00e9n sabemos que no s\u00f3lo a los ciclistas de carretera, sino a la mayor\u00eda de nosotros, una buena relaci\u00f3n potencia-peso nos ayudar\u00e1 a disfrutar de una vida m\u00e1s activa y plena, y las investigaciones muestran que la dieta Keto es una herramienta eficaz para perder peso.
